Connect Haas Next Generation Control (NGC)
Haas NGC (machines from 2016) has a built-in MTConnect agent on port 8082 once MTConnect is enabled or licensed through the Haas Factory Outlet. As an alternative, Setting 143 "Machine Data Collect" opens a TCP port that answers Haas Q-commands (Q500 returns program, status and parts in one reply). DPRNT output uses a separate connection. Software older than 100.20.000.1200 exposes fewer MTConnect data points.
At a glance
| Native protocols | MTConnect agent; Q-commands (Machine Data Collect); DPRNT |
|---|---|
| MTConnect port | 8082 |
| Activation | Via Haas Factory Outlet |
| Setting 143 | Value = TCP port for Q-commands (examples 4001, 5051, 8000) |
| Identify NGC | Settings > Network > Wired Connection exists |

Setting 143; same protocol as serial MDC.
Custom values printed from the program, on its own port.

Software versions
- Software below 100.20.000.1200 provides fewer MTConnect data points
Data you can read
- MTConnect: execution, mode, program, part count, spindle, alarms
- Q-commands: Q100 serial number, Q101 software version, Q102 model, Q104 mode, Q200 total tool changes, Q201 tool in use, Q300 power-on time, Q301 motion time, Q303 last cycle time, Q304 previous cycle time, Q402 M30 parts counter #1, Q403 M30 parts counter #2, Q500 program, status and parts in one reply, Q600 macro variable read
Setting it up
- Confirm NGCSettings > Network > Wired Connection present.
- Enable MTConnectThrough the Haas Factory Outlet.
- TestBrowse
http://<ip>:8082/current. - Or use Setting 143Set the port number, send Q500 and parse STX … ETB replies.
- Avoid clashesIntegrators recommend turning off HaasConnect, HaasDrop and Remote Net Share when using Machine Data Collect.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Too many connections. Disconnecting." | More clients than the control accepts | Use one collector and share its data. |
| MTConnect has few items | Old control software | Update to 100.20.000.1200 or later through HFO. |
Traps to avoid
- DPRNT needs its own connection and port, separate from Machine Data Collect.
- Exact meaning of Settings 261, 262 and 263 for DPRNT is in Haas documentation we could not open; integrators note 261 and 263 affect the DPRNT connection.
